Hartlepool Waterfront Festival 2019 – a maritime arts festival for the 21st century.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s theme for Hartlepool Waterfront Festival is ‘Harbour of Refuge’.
Historically, a ‘Harbour of Refuge’ was the name of a safe haven for ships seeking free shelter from stormy seas located on the Headland.
At this year’s Hartlepool Waterfront Festival, we re-interpret this concept to celebrate the good-old Hartlepool welcome to those from different communities seeking a better life.
Join us as we throw the biggest welcome party you’ve ever seen. We’ll have the usual exciting line-up of family friendly arts and creative activities as well as music, theatre and community arts.
Get set to welcome one and all to our own modern harbour of refuge, including Brân, a 25ft tall Welshman who has been lost for a millennia.
Stay tuned for more programme announcements.
